Telecom major Bharti Airtel Ltd on February 8, 2022 reported that its consolidated net profit fell 2.8 percent year on year (YoY) to Rs 830 crore in the quarter ending December 31, 2021 against Rs 854 crore a year ago. However, total revenue jumped 12.6 percent YoY to Rs 29,867 crore from Rs 26,518 crore a year ago due to recent tariff hikes and subscriber additions.

The mobile average revenue per user (ARPU) increased to Rs 163 in Q3FY22 compared with Rs 146 in Q3FY21, while India revenue rose 17.9 per cent YoY on a comparable basis.

Its quarterly consolidated EBITDA margin came at 49.9 percent from 45.9 percent YoY, that is, EBITDA for the quarter rose 22.4 percent YoY to Rs 14,905.

The Airtel business revenues increased up by 13% year-on-year, backed by continued strong demand for data portfolio and emerging businesses.

Airtel CEO Gopal Vittal said, “We have delivered another quarter of sustained performance across all our business segments. Overall sequential revenue growth was at 5.4% and EBITDA margins came in at 49.9%. The recent tariff revision for mobile services has gone down well and we are exiting the quarter with an industry leading ARPU of Rs 163”.

“Our Enterprise, Homes and Africa business continue to deliver strongly, with steady increase in contribution to the overall mix of the portfolio. Our balance sheet is robust and we are now generating healthy free cash flows. This has enabled us to recently prepay some of our spectrum liabilities to the Government thereby reducing the interest burden,” he further stated.

However the company added that the full impact of revised mobile tariffs will be visible in the fourth quarter of the current fiscal.

Moreover, Bharti Airtel continues to garner a strong share of 4G.
