Bombay High Court grants bail to Anil Deshmukh in money laundering case

|THE DEN|

Anil Deshmukh, a former minister for Maharashtra and the head of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), was granted bail by the Bombay high court on Tuesday in connection with a money laundering case brought by the Enforcement Directorate.

On the security of one lakh rupees, the bail was granted. The ED has requested a two-week suspension of the order's implementation.

He was arrested in November last year and moved to the high court after his bail request was denied earlier this year by a special PMLA court.

Deshmukh has been given bail in the ED case, but he will continue to be detained in relation to the CBI case that was brought against him in April of last year.
