|Parth Kakkar - THE DEN|
New Delhi, India : We are not calling it the third wave yet, but we know we are there. The wave has arrived. While we expect it in April, this year, it is here early. We can be arrogant about it, that it's Omicron, it is weak, won't impact us and continue with our rallies but we are playing with the lives of the citizens of our country. But, of course for the leaders, power is more important than lives, votes are more important than the voters; and a government by the people more important than a government by the people.
Omicron has mutated or mixed with the Indian originated Delta variant in US & Europe already to form Demicron, with spread speed of Omicron and the deadliness of Delta, it will supersede the second wave like cakewalk. Is it arrogance or sheer stupidity that we fine people for not wearing masks in the car even if they are alone ? Impose night curfews for them not getting together at night and have mega rallies in the day where no one even cares about the masks ?
Coming to night curfews, what is the point ? So, people can get together during the day, have nice brunches and there will be no covid spread according to our governments and as soon as it gets dark, covid comes out to infect ? Restaurants will be open so that people can meet and eat together but as soon as they get in their car, and even if they are alone, covid will spread like wildfire inside the car ? They say policies should not be criticised at the time of an emergency in the state, whether it is war or a pandemic but when the policies are not upto the mark and impacting the nation and citizens, the should be called what they are.
Power is more important than lives, votes are more important than the voters; and a government by the people more important than a government by the people.
And, with the looks of elections, there seems to be no need to be cautious because the lives are not that expensive in our country.
