Coronavirus’ Delta Variant Cripples Asian Countries; China, Thailand & Malaysia Witness Record Surge

Despite the imposition of tougher restrictions like curfew and partial lockdown, several Asian countries have witnessed a sharp rise in COVID-19 cases in the last few days. As per the latest reports, China is witnessing a sudden surge of the Delta variant of the COVID-19 cases with 15 cities, including capital Beijing, grappling with clusters of positive cases, with the official media calling it the most extensive domestic contagion after the virus outbreak in Wuhan.

Tokyo, which is hosting the olympic games, has aslo seen a fresh spike in new cases.

Meanwhile, Vietnam has announced strict curbs on movement in its business hub Ho Chi Minh City and another 18 cities for two weeks starting from Monday amid the worst Covid-19 outbreak.
