Delhi High Court directs accused to provide sanitary napkins & petitioner to take up pro bono work

Delhi High Court in Shilpi Chaudhary vs State of NCT of Delhi ordered the accused in an extortion case to provide sanitary napkins to girls' school for two months while the petitioner to take up pro bono work at the office of Delhi High Court Legal Services Committee (DHCLSC) for the next three months as a perquisite to quash the case.

The respondent, a lawyer had filed a complaint against the petitioner under Sections 384 (Punishment for extortion) and 506 (Punishment for criminal intimidation). She alleged that the petitioner, her client did not pay her legal fees and misbehaved with her.

A compromise was reached between the parties at the Mediation Centre, Karakadoom Courts. The court found that a lot of time has been wasted by the police and the courts and set a condition for the FIRs to be quashed.
