Dinesh Gunawardena takes oath as Sri Lanka's new PM

Senior politician Dinesh Gunawardena on Friday was appointed as Sri Lanka's new Prime Minister as President Rani Wickremesinghe formed his Cabinet.

After Gotbaya Rajapaksa's resignation amidst the crisis in the country, Ranil Wickremesinghe took over as the acting president on July 12. On Wednesday, he was chosen as the country's new president by the Sri Lankan MPs. Ranil Wickremesinghe's election as the President met with massive protests from the public.
