Endoscopy Room in AIIMS catches fire; Emergency Ward Temporarily Closed

Today, a fire started in the AIIMS Delhi endoscopy unit, which is next to the emergency ward. The fire was put out after eight fire tenders were dispatched to the area.

Following a fire call from the emergency ward at 11:54 am, all patients and personnel in the area were safely evacuated.

After the event, the AIIMS Delhi emergency room was shut down till further notice. Patients who need emergency care are advised to go to Safdarjung Hospital instead of the hospital. Patients and their relatives are being informed of this information at the hospital's entrance.

As per the fire department, "The fire broke out on the second floor of the Old Raj Kumari OPD Building. It was brought under control by firefighters, but the search operation is still ongoing".
