Fake 'Work from Home' website to be immediately blocked : Delhi High Court

Hearing a trademark infringement case, Delhi High Court on Monday passed an ex-parte interim order in favour of Indiamart, ordering immediate block and suspension of India-mart.co domain.

The cause for such a stringent order by Justice Pratibha Singh was not trademark infringement but rather Indiamart's claim that the fraudulent website by Sameer Samim Khan was duping gullible job seekers in the pretence of 'Work from Home' jobs using Indiamart's credibility. The website offered packages of Rs. 899-1,199.

The court also ordered Union Bank of India to freeze the website's bank account while ACP, Cyber Crime was directed to conduct an investigation and submit a report. Domain registrar GoDaddy was also asked to share the details of the person who had registered the domain within a week.

The matter is next scheduled to be heard on September 27, 2022.
