Following concerns about the Omicron variant of the coronavirus, India has postponed its plan to resume international commercial passenger flights from December 15, as previously decided. The announcement comes after Prime Minister Narendra Modi called on authorities to reconsider his plan to ease international travel restrictions amid concerns over Omicron. On Wednesday, the DCGA said it was "monitoring the situation closely" after the new variant of the coronavirus caused concern. The DGCA said: "An appropriate decision regarding the effective date of the resumption of international commercial passenger services will be communicated in due time. In light of the evolving global landscape with the emergence of a new variant of concern, the situation is being closely monitored in consultation with all stakeholders and an appropriate decision indicates the effective date of the resumption of commercial passenger services scheduled internationally.
