Passing of Queen Elizabeth might lead to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's royal reconciliation

|The Den|

After a reported rift and their relocation to the United States, Queen Elizabeth II's death could help kickstart a reconciliation between Prince Harry and his wife Meghan and the rest of the royal family.

The couple, who were on a rare visit to Britain when the queen died on Thursday, was reunited with Harry's brother William and wife Kate on Saturday at Windsor Castle. It was their first public appearance together since moving to the United States in early 2020.

All dressed in mourning black, they stood together looking at the growing banks of flowers left by the public before greeting well-wishers as separate pairs, revealing little about their relationship status.

William and several other close family members had arrived earlier in a single car, but they were too late to see the queen before she died.

Separate arrivals on Thursday showed the brothers had become "estranged," according to royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams.

However, there have been tentative signs of a possible softening in the estrangement since the queen's death. Despite Harry's claim to Winfrey that his brother and father were "trapped" in the monarchy, Charles appeared open to reconciliation with his self-exiled son in his first speech as Britain's new king, expressing "love" for him and Meghan.
