The Uttarakhand region was given a "red" signal by the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Saturday, foretelling two days of extremely heavy rain. On August 13–14, Uttarakhand is projected to receive more than 204mm of precipitation, according to the weather forecasting organisation.
The public has been urged by the Met department to keep clear from water-logged regions and weak structures. It also cautioned that the rain could cause landslides and localised flooding.
