Satyendar Jain to undergo a psych evaluation by Tihar Jail

Former Delhi minister Satyendar Jain has been imprisoned in Tihar since June of last year. On Monday, the Aam Aadmi Party lawmaker requested that some other prisoners be moved to his cell because he was feeling lonely. The Tihar administration responded by announcing that it would order a psychological evaluation for Jain.

Sanjay Baniwal, Director General (Prisons), stated that since the former minister included a psychiatrist's recommendation in favour of his plea, which was submitted on May 11, the jail administration will have an independent verification performed to evaluate the request.

The change occurs in response to a dispute over the unapproved transfer of two prisoners to Jain's cell. The superintendent of jail number 7, where Jain is being held, has also received a show-cause notice from Baniwal's office for moving the detainees.
