Two women shot dead in South Delhi's RK Puram; 3 arrested

The Delhi Police reported that two sisters were killed in the early hours of Sunday near RK Puram in south Delhi. The police added that the victims were trying to protect their brother from a bunch of guys who had come to beat him over a money dispute. Two of six siblings, Pinky, 30, and Jyoti, 29, were recognised by the police as the deceased. Pinky resided in Munirka with her husband, two children, and two brothers, Lalit and Lala, whilst Jyoti resided in Ambedkar Basti with her three children and husband, who she was estranged from.

Arvind Kejriwal, the chief minister, said that peace and order in the Capital were worsening under lieutenant governor VK Saxena's leadership as the incident snowballed into a political controversy.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) charged Kejriwal with politicising the deaths despite the LG's office's lack of response to the accusations.
