Up to 10 people died after consuming illegal spurious alcohol in Tamil Nadu

According to authorities, up to 10 people, including three women, perished in the Tamil Nadu districts of Villupuram and Chengalpattu after reportedly consuming spurious alcohol. On Sunday, six residents of the Villupuram district's Ekkiyarkuppam neighbourhood near Marakkanam passed away. Two people died on Friday in Maduranthagam in the Chengalpattu district, while a couple died on Sunday, all from the intake of illegal alcohol, according to officials. After the incident, Inspector General of Police (North) N Kannan promised appropriate responses and stated that all 10 victims may have consumed illegal poisonous liqour that had ethanol-methanol additives.
