Virat Kohli lauds all Indian athletes participated in CWG 2022

With Team India securing 61 medals, including 22 golds, 16 silver and 23 bronze, at the Commonwealth Games 2022 (CWG 2022) in Birmingham, fans and celebrities have taken to social media to pass on their congratulatory messages to the athletes.

Virat Kohli also decided to join the bandwagon on Tuesday and told the athletes that the whole country is 'proud' of them. Taking to Twitter, he wrote, "You have brought great laurels for our country. Congratulations to all our winners and the participants of CWG 2022. We are so proud of you. Jai Hind". The post was well-received by fans, with everyone hailing Kohli for his message. One fan wrote, "The Best #CWG for #India despite #Shooting & #Archery not there,still India has managed to grab 61 medals with 22 Gold is brilliant achivement if #Shooting & #Archery included then we can easily beat #Canada for No.3 & crossed 101+ medals (highest ever) so this was best". Meanwhile on Instagram, fans praised the collage posted by Kohli.

With their medal tally, India also finished fourth on the podium at CWG 2022, which is also their fourth-best performance at the Games in terms of gold medals won, tied with the 2006 Manchester Games. India's best-ever showing came at home in CWG 2010, when they clinched 101 medals, which included 38 golds. In regards to overall medals won, CWG 2022 is India's fifth best showing.

The Indian wrestlers contributed 12 medals, including six golds, one silver and five bronze. Meanwhile, the Indian table tennis team and weightlifting side won seven (four golds) and 10 medals respectively. The boxers sealed seven medals, including three golds. Meanwhile in Badminton, India took six medals, including three gold medals. Also in athletics, India got eight medals, with two in Lawn Bowls and one in para powerlifting. In judo, India secured three medals, with two in hockey and squash, and also a silver in women's cricket.
