Why you should not buy an EV in India

|THE DEN|

  • The high price of electric vehicles is one of the main deterrents. Since the cost of batteries is high, the overall cost of the vehicle is much higher than internal combustion engine vehicles.

  • Currently, both technology and companies are new to the market and manufacturing beta versions. The products they are manufacturing are possibly facing real costumers for the first time.

  • Another major challenge for electric vehicles is the lack of infrastructure in India. Electric vehicles can travel around 400 km on a single charge, so a charging station is required at regular intervals.

  • Every electric vehicle-making company has its own different charging port which is creating lack of standardization.

  • Another issue with EVs is temperature i.e, temperature can affect the performance of an EV battery at a large extent which makes EV's inappropriate for too cold or too hot regions.

  • There is very less academic and local skill awareness about EVs which can make you stuck with your damaged electric vehicle.

  • IC engine-driven vehicles are still better in performance than electric vehicles.

  • Replacement parts are difficult to find and can cost owners dearly.

  • It will increase the electricity demand at a national level.

  • Most of the charging stations are reportedly operating upon diesel-driven electricity generator Which is equivalent to spreading the pollution through the ICE vehicle smoke.

Therefore, we would recommend you to keep these points in mind before purchasing any electric vehicle.
