Will Agrasen Heights face the same fate of Supertech towers

|The Den|

After the demolition of Noida's Supertech twin tower on Sunday, another twin tower, the Godawari Agrasen Heights in Lucknow has been declared illegal on Friday. Reportedly, LDA stated that the Twin Towers were constructed illegally on land which actually belong to the government. Ironically, LDA itself passed the plan for Godawari Agrasen builders in 2006 but after years, in 2022, LDA realized that the documents were fake. Moreover, 80 families are already residing in these 7-8 storey buildings. Although, the fate of Godawari Agrasen Heights is yet to be decided.

Some facts about Lucknow twin towers :

  • One is 7 floors while the other is 8;

  • It is possessed by over 80 families most of whom have the flat financed from a bank;

  • One 3 BHK flat (approx. 1900 sq yards) costs about 1.5 crores;

  • LDA passed the plan in 2006 and now in 2022, refuse to acknowledge it;

  • Were the banks in on it as banks are required to do their due delegation before approving a loan;

  • Were the flat owners aware of the government owned land ?

  • As of August 2022, Supreme Court has set precedence of non-acceptance of illegal towers with the demolition of Supertech twin towers;
