He worked for Lanvin and Balmain, among other fashion houses. His eponymous fashion brand has boutiques all over the world, including at London's Harrods and New York's Madison Avenue. In 1991, de la Renta was the recipient of the Golden Plate Award of the American Academy of Achievement. The United States Postal Service honoured de la Renta with an eleven-stamp set in 2017, featuring a black-and-white photo of him and ten details from his fashion designs.
This month we've chosen Oscar de la Renta crushed flower silk dress. The silk-organza starred in the Fall 2021 collection as the focal ladylike fabrication. This V-neck dress with layers of Tulle cascading elegantly from the waist into an A-line skirt sweeps just below the knee. This dress is perfect for twirling and flaring movements.
