Dior revolutionized the perfumery industry with the launch of the highly popular Miss Dior parfum, which was named after Catherine Dior (Christian Dior's sister). The "Diorama" perfume was unveiled in 1949, and by that year, the New Look line had achieved a profit of $12.77 million. This month, we’ve chosen Poison by Dior as our perfume of the month.
Poison is a women's perfume that was first released in 1985 by Christian Dior. The fragrance's popularity led to the release of five flanker perfumes: Tender Poison, Hypnotic Poison, Pure Poison, Midnight Poison, and Poison Girl.
Hypnotic Poison by Dior, in particular, is an ode to cyanide. It has bitter almond aromas, and bitter almonds include amygdalin, a popular aromatic component that smells like amaretto liqueur but can potentially release cyanide if hydrolysis is performed incorrectly. It's a scent that pays homage to the lengthy history of death and glamour.
The House of Dior's mystical and intoxicating oriental Eau de Toilette Poison is a sultry elixir. Some scents are renowned from the start. Poison, Dior's ultimate fragrance weapon of heightened seduction, has been provocative and mysterious since its beginning.
