16-year-old student jumps from hostel in Hyderabad

On Tuesday, a girl in her first year of Intermediate (11th standard) allegedly committed suicide by jumping to her death from her private residential college's fifth floor, according to the police.

The girl (16) enrolled in college three days ago, After her acceptance, her parents left for their hometown in Kamareddy town.

Citing some health reasons, she returned to her hostel room Tuesday morning. She walked to the fifth floor of the building on her own before jumping off the terrace. She allegedly sustained severe injuries and died on the spot.

When she first arrived at the college, the girl seemed distant and melancholy, asking her roommates about the holidays, according to the police, who also speculated that loneliness and home sickness can be the reason for her step.
