3 killed in Haridwar, Uttarakhand because of flood and heavy rainfall



In Uttarakhand's Haridwar district, floods brought on by nonstop rains claimed the lives of three people, including a seven-year-old child, officials reported on Friday.

The State Emergency Operation Centre received word that Satpal (47), of Habibpur Kundi, Laksar, and Ajay Kumar (27), of Basedi Khadar, both drowned after being washed away by floodwaters.



Seven-year-old Aliusa in Roorkee perished when a wall fell on her as a result of the region's heavy rains. According to Savin Bansal, Additional Secretary of the State Disaster Management Department (SDMD), Haridwar in particular is experiencing waterlogging as a result of recent heavy rains that have been falling across the state.
