Delhi reports 10,665 fresh Covid-19 cases in last 24 hrs

Delhi on Wednesday reported 10,665 fresh Covid-19 cases and eight deaths, as the positivity rate also shot up to 11.88 per cent. Delhi had reported 5,481 cases of Covid-19 on Tuesday at a test positivity rate of 8.37 per cent.

Earlier in the day, Delhi Health Minister Satyendar Jain had said that the national capital was likely to record 10,000 cases today and added that the third wave has set in. “Delhi is likely to report around 10,000 Covid infections today, with the daily positivity rate rising to nearly 10 per cent. The third wave of COVID-19 has set in.

Meanwhile, officials said that all services, except shops selling essential items such as groceries, will be shut over the weekend. This includes malls, markets and restaurants. Since a night curfew is already in place, the curfew will be in effect between 10 pm Friday and 5 am Monday.

The Union health ministry on Wednesday said Covid-19 patients under home isolation will stand discharged after at least seven days from testing positive and no fever for three successive days, in revised guidelines for home isolation of mild or asymptomatic cases.
