Highways Authority Suffered Loss Of ₹ 2,731 Crore Due To Farmers' Protest

India's state-owned National Highways Authority lost revenue of Rs2,731,332 due to farmers' protests in Punjab, Haryana, and Rajasthan, parliament said on Wednesday. started to affect toll collection from October 2020.

Punjab toll stations were initially inactive due to farmers' agitation in October 2020. Minister said MORTH and NHI had made relentless efforts to operate affected toll stations through active communication with state authorities, use of toll collection agencies, etc. As for a separate question, Gadkari said the ministry has set a target to build 12,000 kilometers of national roads in fiscal year 202122, under various projects, some of which are expected to be completed in 2021.
