MHA to review security of Kumar Vishwas in light of allegations of ‘separatism’ against Delhi CM

|IN|

The Union Ministry of Home Affairs is reviewing the security of former Aam Aadmi Party leader Kumar Vishwas in light of the allegations of ‘separatism’ he levelled against Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Wednesday shared a video of Kumar Vishwas — one of the founding members of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) — alleging that Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal wanted to be "either the Punjab CM or the PM of Khalistan". In the video, the BJP said Kumar Vishwas was heard recalling his conversation with Arvind Kejriwal. However, Vishwas didn't mention Kejriwal's name. The issue has gained even more prominence as the allegations came right before the Punjab elections. Sources in the Ministry of Home Affairs told India Today that Kumar Vishwas may be offered armed security in light of the recent developments.

The Aam Admi Party on Thursday alleged that Vishwas was spreading lies and questioned the timing of the alleged revelation of the ill intentions of Kejriwal. AAP leader Raghav Chadha asked why Kumar Vishwas remained associated with the party for years when he knew, as alleged, that Arvind Kejriwal wanted to become the first Prime Minister of an independent nation? Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi has also urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to conduct an inquiry into the matter.
