No Bike Taxi allowed in Delhi; Rules Supreme Court

Supreme Court on Monday put hold on the Delhi High Court's decision to permit bike-taxi aggregators to operate in the capital city until a definitive policy was announced.

The two aggregators were given permission by a vacationing bench of Justices Aniruddha Bose and Rajesh Bindal to ask the Delhi High Court to hear their cases immediately. However, the court mandated that after the Delhi government has decided on a policy, applications for licencing of bike taxis be processed quickly.

“It is added that private two-wheelers have been allowed to be added as commercial/transport vehicles, and should be allowed to ply pending the policy and grant of license,” the apex court said.
