Nobody to raise voice for voice for dead in Punjab ? - Elections are coming ?

|Editorial - THE DEN|

Amritsar, Punjab : On December 18, a man was beaten to death by supposed devotees/sevadars in the Golden Temple.

Let's get that again, a Temple of the lord (guru) and the devotees killed someone by beating the man to death.

They did not beat him to hold him or capture him but to kill him, and no one is saying anything because elections are coming soon. The police was not called before killing him, no magistrate gave the order to kill him, there was no trial before killing him but they killed him because they will not be held accountable.

Are we in an anarchy where we can kill anyone who hurts our religious sentiments ? If the Sikhs believed the man wronged them or their religion, our constitution has provisions for such acts but no, they resorted to killing.

And, with elections coming soon, for both UP and Punjab, the name of the man has not been disclosed because nobody can upset the vote bank.

Hours after this incident, another man has been beaten to death in Amritsar over again so called 'sacrilege' attempts for allegedly disrespecting the Sikh flag or 'Nishan Sahib'.

Again, no interrogation, no arrest, no judiciary, no trial, but beaten to death.

So, on short any Hindu, Muslim or Christian can be beaten to death in today's Punjab without any consequences in the name of religion and no one will be answerable. But, what if a Sikh disrespects the religion, nobody will be killing them by beating to death.

Are we still Secular ? Are we still a democracy ?
