"Regional cooperation becomes a greater priority", says PM Modi on BIMSTEC Summit

|HT|

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday said that ‘regional cooperation has become a greater priority’ as the ongoing Russia-Ukraine crisis has ‘raised questions about the stability of the international order’ in virtual address at the BIMSTEC summit. “The recent developments in Europe have raised questions about the stability of the international order. In this context, it has become a greater priority to have regional cooperation,” he said. The Prime Minister is addressing the seven-nation BIMSTEC summit summit virtually. The summit is chaired by Sri Lanka.

BIMSTEC constitutes seven Member States: five deriving from South Asia, including Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Nepal, Sri Lanka, and two from Southeast Asia, including Myanmar and Thailand.
