Shiv Sena leader shot dead in Amritsar


Shiv Sena leader Sudhir Suri was shot and killed on Friday in Amritsar, Punjab. According to reports, the event happened in front of a city temple. After some shattered idols were discovered in the trash outside a temple's grounds, Shiv Sena leaders demonstrated against the temple's administrators. At this point, a member of the crowd approached and shot Suri.

"During some commotion, Sudhir Suri was shot outside the Gopal Mandir in Amritsar. He was struck by a bullet, taken to the hospital, and later pronounced dead, according to the Amritsar police.

The accused has been taken into custody, according to the police, and the incidental weapon has been found.

According to DGP Punjab Gaurav Yadav, the defendant owns a clothing store close to Gopal Mandir, the location of the Hindu leader's rally.
