TMC leader Derek O'Brien suspended from Rajya Sabha for the rest of the monsoon session

According to House Chairman and Vice-President Jagdeep Dhankhar, Trinamool's Derek O'Brien has been expelled from the Rajya Sabha for the remainder of the Monsoon Session due to "unruly behaviour and disregarding the directions of the Chair."

When the chairman asked the TMC leader to identify the rule he was attempting to address, O'Brien responded with 267, the rule under which the opposition has been requesting a discussion on the Manipur issue ever since the Monsoon session began on July 20.

The proposal to suspend the Trinamool leader for the remainder of the Monsoon session was then made by the House Leader and Union Minister Piyush Goyal.

During a heated debate on the Delhi services bill on Monday, Mr. Dhankhar charged Derek O'Brien with using "theatrics" in the House to seek attention.
